My Approach
My overarching philosophy in therapy is Postmodernism and Collaborative Dialogic Practices. This influences the way I position myself with my clients. These modalities place the client as the expert or “knower” in their life and the therapist is the expert in change processes. I will use both of our expertise to facilitate therapeutic change.
I acknowledge that therapy is not a one size fits all, so I adapt my approach to fit my clients needs at the time. My intention is to support my clients in meeting their goals as well as empower and equip them with the resources they need to lead a more fulfilling life. The interventions I use come from several related theories and I choose which ones to use based on the issues and distress level presented at the time. I am knowledgeable in the evidence‐based change processes and various theories on therapy including Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), Narrative Therapy (NT), Collaborative Therapy (CT), and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT).
Change takes time, it doesn’t happen overnight. Be patient through the process as we are working to discover what works, develop deep self-awareness, create meaningful boundaries, and identify what’s best for you in your life and relationship(s).
